Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to record the details and specifications for each space on the project. They are usually created by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process however, they may also be revised during the design process to reflect changes in requirements, or to provide more complete and precise image to those responsible for the project’s execution.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool is an accurate and reliable sheet view and schedule building utility for creating rooms (or space) sheets of data within a Revit project. The tool can generate 3D plans, elevations, and schedule views of spaces or rooms.
The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that is determined by the Revit Project. However, you can select an alternative style of sheet and name from the Tool Options tab. Click the button ‘Load configuration …” on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This can reduce the amount of needed for manual rework for different rooms and types.
The ‘Naming’ tab allows the user to choose if the chosen room/space is included in the sheet’s Name text box that is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Name’ field is the text that appears in the title bar of each view, while the ‘View Increment’ option specifies the increment between each view after it is placed on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ can be enabled to control the space between each view on the sheet and the ‘Exclude View Titles when estimating the size of views on Sheets:’ will stop titles from being included in determining the amount of views that are able to fit on a page.
